Keep the kids entertained this winter

15 June 2016

Winter may mean swimming and water play aren’t an option but there’s no need to spend time racking your brain for ideas to keep the kids entertained this season. Get some inspiration from these family and winter friendly activities you can enjoy while staying at an Ingenia Holidays park, and get the kids out from behind the TV this winter.

A Whale of a Time – Every year between April and August whales migrate north along the NSW and Southern Queensland coast in search of warmer waters to breed. Check out the TOP SPOTS for whale watching from Wild About Whales and download the APP to see the latest sightings and find the perfect vantage point. Or get up close and personal with the giants of the sea and take a Whale Watching Cruise. There are Ingenia Holidays located along the coast, from Broulee near Batemans Bay to Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, making them the perfect base for your whale watching adventure.

Happy with History – When the weather gets cold and wet why not head to one of the fascinating and educational local museums, historical buildings and villages in the area. With many museums offering interactive displays it’s a great way to teach your kids about Australian history while having fun indoors.

Bowl them Over – Ten Pin Bowling and Laser Tag are great energy burning rainy day activities for the whole family. With most towns offering a Bowling Alley, some with Laser Tag, you’ll be entertained for hours despite the weather.

Fun with Fauna – Winter is still a great time to visit some of the many Aquariums, Zoos, Farms, Animal and Reptile Parks across Australia, with many located just a stone’s throw from our Parks. We can guarantee the kids would love a visit to the famous MOGO ZOO!

Giddy-Up – Whether you’re adventuring inland or cruising the coast you’re sure to find a great trail riding company near you. Trail riding can be enjoyed by the whole family with horses matched to a rider’s ability, making sure your little ones have the perfect pony or noble steed.

Soar the Skies – Just because you’re not swimming doesn’t mean you have to avoid the beach completely, take advantage of the breezy winter weather on our coastlines by reliving your youth and teaching the kids how to fly a kite.

Best Foot Forward – We’ve already told you about the great National Parks and Nature Reserves you can explore this Winter while staying at an Active Holiday Park.

Drop a Line – You don’t have to be in the water to enjoy the fantastic coastline and river regions of Australia. Whether you have all the gear or simply a hook and reel, fishing is a great way to spend some time outdoors. Throw on a jumper and sit back and relax or add a little friendly competition by seeing who can catch a fish the fastest, or the biggest. There are BBQ’s at all Ingenia Holidays and many parks have Camp Kitchens making it easy to prepare your catch of the day for dinner!

With so many great activities to be had there is no excuse to stay home these Winter Holidays!
