Plenty to celebrate about being a senior traveller

23 February 2017

When you’ve spent decades working and perhaps also raising a family, it’s a joy if you’re able to find yourself more independent in your senior years.

This might be a time when you have retired, or just reduced your working hours, and suddenly have the ability to hook up the caravan and travel for extended periods of time.

It’s an exhilarating feeling to be able to choose your own destination and schedule. And whether you like the term Grey Nomad or prefer ‘footloose and fancy free’, at Ingenia Holidays we welcome hundreds of older travellers every year.

Retirement in Australia looks very different today.

Senior Australians experience all sorts of lifestyles and that can mean remaining very active and keen to travel. Some seniors relocate to warmer parts of Australia for months at a time or visit family living in different locations. Others make the most of special festivals and events around the country.

One event which is celebrated in Australia every year is Seniors Week. In New South Wales, it’s called the Seniors Festival and it’s held from March 3 to 12. It’s designed for people over 60 and is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Seniors Festival celebrates the role seniors play and the contributions they make to the community, with hundreds of events encompassing art, sport, music, entertainment, technology, recreation and more.

Whatever your travel plans this year, please contact the team at Ingenia Holidays if you need any help discovering one of our parks or making a booking. And enjoy Seniors Week!
