When the temperature dips, there is nothing nicer than a hearty, warming feed to raise your spirits. And that is exactly what Chef Ian Smith serves up at Driftwood Restaurant. Located on site at Ingenia Holidays Rivershore, it’s the perfect way to end a winter’s day on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. So much so that locals often pop in to take advantage of what park guests have right on their doorstep.

What’s on the menu

Along with menu staples the whole family will love, you’ll find are an ever-changing range of delicious specials to look forward to every day. It might be spiced pumpkin soup or perhaps a rich and satisfying beef bourguignon, but whatever you find, it’s guaranteed to banish those winter blues.

Mid-week specials

If you like your meals with a little kick, Monday night is curry night and not to be missed. Each week, Chef Ian serves up a different type of Indian or Thai curry. It could be a chicken korma one week and a Thai red curry the next, you’ll have to pop in to find out!

A guaranteed crowd pleaser, Tuesday is Italian night, with a wide range of filling pasta dishes from as little as $15. Or treat the kids to their favourite meal, with a wide choice of $20 pizzas.

With two mains and two drinks for just $55 it’s hard to find a reason not to drop into Driftwood to take advantage of their date night special on Wednesdays.

Chef’s favourite

If you ask Chef Ian his top pick from the Driftwood menu, he’ll tell you that you can’t go wrong with the Sticky Beef Short Ribs. “They are made with master stock braised beef and finished with a sticky black vinegar glaze that offers the perfect balance of sweet and tangy.” They are also so tender that just the touch of a spoon has the meat falling off the bone, delicious!

Sunday roast

Be sure to book a table for Chef Ian’s traditional Sunday roast. Alternating between pork, lamb and beef, with all the trimmings, it’s what lazy Sundays were made for.

For the sweet tooth

The winter warmers extend to the dessert menu too. You simply can’t go wrong with house made sticky date pudding drenched in caramel sauce, accompanied by vanilla bean ice cream of course. With food this good, why bother cooking, you are on holiday after all!
