From easy routes the whole family will enjoy to thrilling mountain bike adventures, these trails are the perfect excuse to get outdoors, get active and have some fun. Here are some of our favourite bike trails in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
New South Wales
Byron Bay Lighthouse circuit
Distance: 13km Style: Road riding Difficulty: Medium.
Stay: Ingenia Holidays Byron Bay
It’s just a half-hour ride each way from our park to the iconic lighthouse that marks the most easterly point on mainland Australia. While not too extreme, the road is hilly so expect a bit of a climb and be rewarded with amazing views of both Tallow Beach and Main Beach.
Tomaree National Park, Port Stephens
Saddle up and hit the network of trails in Tomaree National Park, a short bike ride from our parks. Take your pick from a range of coastal paths or forest trails for your off-road adventure.
One Track For All circuit, Ulladulla Heads
Distance: 10km Style: Road and forest path Difficulty: Easy to medium
Stay: Ingenia Holidays Ulladulla
A relatively flat 20-minute ride takes you from the park to the One Track for All circuit at Ulladulla Head. This cultural heritage trail allows bicycle access and boasts great lookout points over the ocean and Ulladulla Harbour. Look out for carvings and paintings that tell stories of local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal history.
Urangan Bikeway, Hervey Bay
Distance: 17km Style: Road riding Difficulty: Easy
Stay: Ingenia Holidays Hervey Bay
A 3-minute cycle ride from our park you’ll hit the Esplanade, which stretches from Urangan all the way to Point Vernon. Soak up fabulous sea views and maybe even spot a whale or two as you cruise along the foreshore on this easy bike ride.
Wooroi Trails, Sunshine Coast
Distance: Varies Style: Off-road Difficulty: Easy to challenging
Stay: Ingenia Holidays Noosa
One for the mountain bikers, the Wooroi Trail network is just a 4-minute ride from our park. Enter via the day-use area and discover eleven well-maintained, forest trails. Trails vary in length and difficulty, with ‘Glider’ and ‘Secrets’ ideal for beginners, while ‘Trailblazer’ and ‘Milkmaid’ will get more experienced riders’ heart pumping.
Bass Coast Rail Trail, Gippsland
Running from Wonthaggi to Anderson, follow the path of an old railway line as it takes you through scenic Gippsland farmland and along the coast. It is easily accessed from three of our parks and has a number of entry points if don’t want to tackle the whole distance in one day.
Queenscliff to Barwon Heads Loop, Bellarine Peninsula
Distance: 32km Style: Road riding Difficulty: easy
Stay: Ingenia Holidays Queenscliff Beacon
For those that prefer some simple road riding, cycle through the Lonsdale Lakes Wildlife Reserve to Ocean Grove Beach, then follow the coast road along the spit and cross the bridge to Barwon Heads before making your way to the bluff. It’s around an hour each way with fantastic sea views for most of your journey.
