If you love spending time outdoors, head to Nambucca Heads for your next holiday or short break. With so much to see and do, local insights are a great way to ensure you make the most of your time.

We spoke to the team at Ingenia Holidays White Albatross to get some insider info, so you don’t miss out on the best the area has to offer.

Best morning coffee or breakfast

Less than a 10-minute stroll from the park gate, you’ll find the Wharf Street Café, which serves possibly the best coffee in Nambucca Heads, along with a tempting selection of cakes and a great breakfast menu. Garlic and parmesan waffle, caramelised bacon, organic poached eggs, rosemary potato crisps, rocket and a green pea and herb cream – now that’s what you call a breakfast special! This dog-friendly venue also offers amazing river views.

Best beach

This one’s no secret. Shelly Beach featured in Australian Geographic’s list of Australia’s Top 10 Beaches, coming in at number 8. Not only is it super pretty, it’s family friendly too. It’s not a patrolled beach but it is very sheltered, so you’ll usually find only gently lapping waves close to shore. As an added bonus it’s also one of the closest beaches to the holiday park.

Best local activity

You simply can’t visit Nambucca Heads without strolling along the famous V-Wall, a riverfront boardwalk that extends all the way to the old highway (about 10km return). All along the breakwater you’ll find delightfully painted rocks and stones. Bring some paint and a brush and create your own masterpiece for others to enjoy. Searching for your stone on your next visit is always fun and many choose to paint another or update their original.

Best day trip

If you want to explore further afield, take a scenic hour-long drive to Dorrigo National Park, where rainforest and waterfalls await. Take in the view from the Skywalk Lookout, an observation deck on Dorrigo Mountain, enjoy a picnic and a dop at Dangar Falls or walk through the rainforest to Crystal Shower Falls.

Best spot to watch the sun go down

We might be a little biased, but we think the V-Wall Tavern located within our holiday park is as good as it gets. Dine on delicious food or sip your favourite drink as you take in the amazing river views from the deck. It’s a great spot to end the day. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins frolicking in the river as the sun goes down.
