8 reasons to visit a holiday park this winter

If there has ever been a time to escape the four walls of your home, this winter has got to be it.

We know Australians have been isolating at home, juggling the many challenges that COVID-19 has thrown at each one of us, in very different ways.

We know amidst the chaos, booking and planning holidays have been the least of anyone’s worries, largely because our diaries haven’t been in sync. Instead, our days have been marked by the setting of the sun and the last time we went to the kitchen for a meal.

But in case you missed it among all the other noise, there’s just a couple of weeks until school’s out for winter – do you have holiday plans?

Because among the challenges of COVID-19 for the tourism industry, there are opportunities, namely, availability for you to book and plan your winter escape, with little competition for prime spots and the dates you really want.

If you need more convincing, here’s 8 reasons to visit a holiday park this winter:

1. The weather is picture perfect

If Mother Nature had to choose an Australian season to be her muse, it would be winter. Her days are best enjoyed under the mild winter sun and chilly nights spent around the campfire, roasting marshmallows, cooking on the campfire and indulging in a hot chocolate. There’s no better season to travel in Australia, where some parts of the country (we’re looking at you Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut) rarely drop below 20 degrees.

2. It’s more than just camping

We might have built a reputation within the caravanning and camping community, but that doesn’t mean you have to BYO accommodation to stay with us. Across our Ingenia Holidays Network, we have a range of accommodation from premium cabins, fully self-contained villas, even glamping tents that offer the best of both worlds. If you do decide to camp, you’ll want to check out these winter camping tips before setting off.

3. Our park activities will mean you don’t have to play ‘teacher’ or ‘classmate’ again

Calling all parents who need a break. We’ve got just the school holiday program to give you a little R&R this holiday season. Our school holiday programs are completely free for all guests, with a range of programs from scavenger hunts, arts and crafts to petting zoos. To keep the little ones busy, enrol them into organised activities, so you don’t have to ‘make your own fun’ on holidays, giving you flashbacks to the last 12 weeks of isolation. With school holiday activities capped at a maximum of 10-15 guests and at least 4m2 between all little travellers, we’re ensuring the fun can go on in line with new social distancing measures.

4. Our park prices are all-inclusive, so you can drive your dollar further

You know those holidays where you’re always putting your hand in and out of your pocket to spend more money? Us too. That’s why we set up our business to do the opposite. Once you check in – you have access to all the parks facilities (except for restaurants, tours and bookable experiences) and activities at no extra cost. Most of our parks have pools (some heated for these cooler winter temperatures) and outdoor play areas, there’s plenty of boredom-busting activities to keep the little ones occupied before bedtime.

5.Free activities await outside the park’s gate

Want a little bit more than what’s on offer within the park’s boundaries? Just outside all of our parks, you’ll find a range of natural playgrounds to fill your days – from fishing spots to bushwalks through famous national parks.

If you find yourself on the central coast, you’ll want to make your rod and reel compulsory backing to cast off at the range of fishing spots near Ocean Lake, Lake Conjola, Lake Macquarie, South West Rocks and Nambucca Heads.

Further north, our Queensland parks will put you on the doorstep of World Heritage-listed wonders, whether that be the Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island or the Noosa Biosphere.

6. There's plenty of room to move once you get here

You don’t have to worry about being packed in like sardines once you arrive at an Ingenia Holidays park. Even before COVID-19, we took pride in the space between all guests, something we’re pleased to retain as part of our COVID-Safe Plan moving forward. As part of our response, we’ve removed any congested areas and are proud to offer contact-less check-in, which not only promotes social distancing but gets you on your way to holiday happiness even faster. You can read more about our COVID-19 plans to keep you safe, over here.

7. Your food can arrive before you do

We’re proud to have partnered with Woolworths so can walk into your holiday and a fully stocked fridge.
